Bond welcomes senior official from US Embassy

Bond Digital Health recently welcomed a senior official from the United States Embassy to The Maltings.

Jason Hammontree, an Economic Advisor based at the diplomatic mission in London, travelled to Cardiff to discuss trading opportunities between Wales and the US.

During the visit, which was arranged by Chambers Wales, Mr Hammontree was given a presentation on the company’s data capture system for lateral flow — Transform® — and had discussions with the company’s new CEO, Ian Smith, Phil Groom, Chief Commercial Officer and Ian Bond, Ambassador and Advisory Board Chairman.

Ian said Mr Hammontree was interested to learn what opportunities there might be for easier sector-specific trade with the US in future.

“As well as being interested in our technology, Mr Hammontree was pleased to hear we are already building strong collaborative links with US-based businesses,” he added.

Jo Price, Director of International, Chambers Wales, said “The strength of Welsh businesses is in their entrepreneurship and agility, something that Bond Digital Health has demonstrated over the past two years with its Covid-19 test data capture system.

“We were delighted to be able to introduce Bond Digital Health to the US Embassy to help strengthen the links for its business operations in the USA.

“There are opportunities for Welsh businesses to grow their markets into the USA and Chambers Wales is able to support the growth of businesses through our connections and end-to-end supply chain solutions.”

The visit comes as Bond steps up its efforts to expand its business overseas.

In his new role as ambassador, Bond’s co-founder and former CEO Ian Bond has been busy building new relationships and forging global links.

Ian has been working with organisations, including Chambers Wales, GlobalWelsh and Cyber Wales, to develop ongoing international business opportunities.

One focus is to look for reseller partners in regions where language and regulations might be barriers to market entry.

In August, Bond was one of a handful of Welsh businesses invited to meet representatives from Bahrain.

Ian met with Iain Lindsay, the former UK Ambassador to Bahrain who now advises the gulf state on inward investment, to discuss trade opportunities.
