New additions to the Bond team and expanding into Apple products

Welsh medtech firm Bond Digital Health has appointed two new senior iOS developers and an office manager to help it increase its capability and offer cross-platform products.

Experienced developers Craig Appleton and Angus Muller and office manager Eirian Powell joined the fast-growing Cardiff-based business this month.

Bond’s digital data management platform, Transform®, captures, stores and shares data from lateral flow diagnostic tests – the same type of rapid tests that are being widely used in the Covid-19 outbreak.

A version of Transform® is currently in-market, powering a Covid-19 rapid antigen test made by Bond’s Canadian partners Sona Nanotech. Sona Connect™, is currently available on the Google Play store.

The two new developers will help Bond extend the scope and functionality of Transform® to users of Apple devices. They will be responsible for developing iOS applications as part of the company product ecosystem and for external commercial clients in the medical device space.

Craig Appleton, a graduate of the University of Bolton, has nine years’ commercial experience developing native iOS applications.

He said:

“I have a passion for resourcing the latest technology to push what’s possible on current devices to deliver excellent quality to customers. I can’t wait to start working on Bond’s technology and to help take Transform to the next level.”

Angus Muller has more than 17 years’ experience across various web and IT infrastructure roles, and has been focused on iOS app development for the last four years.

He said: “I am passionate about everything iOS app related and writing code to best practices. I’m looking forward to the challenge of developing exciting new apps that will make a difference to people’s lives.”

Bond has also hired a new office manager to manage the day-to-day administration of the business. Eirian Powell has 26 years international experience in various roles, including having founded her own teaching and translation businesses in Europe.

Phil Groom, Bond’s Commercial Director, said:

“Craig, Angus and Eirian are joining Bond at a crucial time for the business. We’ve just received £1.2 million in equity funding to help us develop our technology and our products and to enter new markets, so being able to offer cross-platform products will be key to achieving those goals. With two skilled and experienced iOS developers on board we can accelerate our plans to make rapid testing better with data.”
